My First Play

For the inaugural production of our company (New Product Company) with my friend and collaborator Pria Dahiya, we each directed two new works which I wrote and she did the media design for. We had two sold-out shows at the Lillie Black Box Theatre and plan to return next year with more to come.
Youtube.com/the-family-family explores the ethics of influencer family content and Earth Angel follows a girl tasked with rebranding an unsavory client.
Penelope

'As 'Penelope,' by Enda Walsh is an adaptation of The Odyssey, Spencer and team adapted the Irish absurdist play to a Carnegie Mellon stage. Including a live feed camera to capture the Bachelorette style flirtations of these men and an N'SYNC dance number when the woman of the hour finally arrives. This is a play about 4 men who need each other more than they know, and the inability for love to exist within a world of competition and comparison.
To hear Spencer speak about the piece you can listen to him on Pittsburgh's WQED with Jim Cunningham here.
Gwarek 2

Gwarek 2 is a dance piece created by Spencer and collaborators Evan Vines and Lukas Jarvi for Carnegie Mellon University's Dance/Light festival. Physicalized to an Aphex Twin song of the same name, the piece explores fear and the body between two men.
Leg Lengthening

'Leg Lengthening' written and directed by Spencer, exposes the insidious internet trend of 'Looksmaxing' and the body image crisis among young men. The play depicts just how far men will go to feel beautiful.
Selected Assignments
Two assignments made with frequent collaborator Pria Dahiya in the Fall of 2023. These pieces examine 'digital doubles' created by either AI or through social media.
Inner City Cryptid

A no budget film project made in Winter 2022 with my collaborators Lukas Jarvi and Evan Vines. Partly inspired by Banksy's 'Exit Through the Gift Shop' and a Local Pittsburgh Graffiti artist, 'Inner City Cryptid' follows Lukas as he uncovers the world's most elusive artist, Dracula.
Miss Furr and Miss Skeene

Rehearsed and Performed at The Frame Gallery in February of 2022. An adaptation of a Gertrude Stein poem of the same title written by Spencer. A play, told through fabric, about flash in the pan relationships which repeat and remain like Stein's poetry.
